Tullamore open their campaign in the All Ireland League next Saturday at home to Limerick visitors Old Crescent. The visitors beat Tullamore 7-6 in the League last season in Limerick. Tullamore have the same experienced coaching staff as last season in Geoff Kenny and John Burns. Team management is made up of Derek Woodnutt, Eddie Brady and Vinny Wyer. Some new players have joined Tullamore in the close season. Forner Leinster Youths player Karl Dunne has rejoined from Barnhall. Conor Molloy is back on the wing after an injury ravaged 2 seasons. Brian Gilligan joins his brother Tom in the backs from West Offaly. Up front prop Michael Blighe has arrived from Creggs. Another former stalwart prop Tomas Bennett has returned from Australia. Former Buccaneers and Connacht Under 20,s lock Joe Kenny will be a major addition to the pack. Another former back row star Colin Finnerty has rejoined from Wicklow. Some Youth players have made the step up including Senan Carroll, Conor Martin, Tirrnan Mealiff and Jerome Scully. Ivor Deverell takes over as captain and is a very popular and wise choice. The League format this season has changed whereby every team in the division play 18 games, 9 home and away. There are 2 Limerick teams Old Crescent and Bruff, 2 Cork teams, Kanturk and Midleton, Sligo in the West and 5 Leinster teams, Navan, Boyne, Dundalk, Wanderers and Tullamore. There is no team from the North with Armagh promoted and Ards relegated. After failing to achieve promotion in their final game last season Tullamore will be very determined to make the step up this season.
