U 13s overcome Barnhall in Cup
Leinster U-13 Cup 2nd Round.
Tullamore 24 Barnhall 12.
A great opening and then the foot came off the pedal. Its very difficult to regain momentum and so it proved on Saturday last when Tullamore were glad to hear the final whistle in this Cup match.
The early part of the game was played in the Barnhall half during which the home side did not take their chances primarily from being too greedy and not letting out the ball. After 12 minutes following a chance created by the forwards scrumhalf spotted a gap and scored the opening try. Straight from the kick off Tullamore gained possession ran hard at the defence for Barry Bracken to score the second try and Paul Norton converted. Morgan Mealiff the scored a try thanks to the efforts of his fellow forwards. Flying winger Jason Owens then got in on the act when he got his first pass in a one on one situation. Paul converted to leave the score 24-00 after twenty minutes. Just before half tome following a kick out of defence by Tullamore the Barnhall full back gathered and ran though the full home side to score a try.
That late first half try vitalised the visitors who did most of the attacking in the last thirty minutes. They got a second converted try in the first four minutes of the second half. It was backs to the wall stuff for this side but Tullamore have defended before for long periods and they did so successfully again for 25 minutes
The Q/ Final is not until the 27th March and its away to Ashbourne. There is no date set yet for the Leinster League Final.
