Firsts lose out to Seapoint

Leinster League Div 1A.

SEAPOINT    62    TULLAMORE  24.

The worst possible “day at the office” does not come close to describing last Sunday in Killiney , Co Dublin. The fact that Seapoint were crowned league champions with two games to go and are unbeaten all season does not console a bitterly dissapointed Tullamore side. Tullamore are potentially a good team but are playing without any confidence or spirit since November. A long list of injuries, particularily the loss of captain Gearoid O’Grady since mid-Nov are the root causes of the problem.

At one stage Tullamore topped the table but are now in the relegation zone of this ultra competitive league. They need to win both of their two games in hand starting on Sunday in Portlaoise to rescue the situation. They are more than capable of doing so and also getting bonus points.

Tullamore found themselves three converted tries down after 25 minutes last Sunday and things did not improve. The support play from Seapoint was awesome and every player making a break had instant support on either side of him. On the half hour mark Aaron Deverell spotted Colin Hughes free on the wing and his crossfield kick was perfect for Colin to hold and score. This only interrupted the Seapoint attack and they added two more tries to lead  33-05 at half time.

Following a further two converted tries by the home side Keith Scally made a fine individual break to score a try that Niall  Geraghty converted. Between two further Seapoint tries Cathal Feighery got a try for the visitors under the posts and converted by Niall. Shortly after the home side got their final try Adrian Hanley got his trademark try and with it the bonus point for a fourth try.

LEINSTER 2NDS LEAGUE.

SEAPOINT  18  TULLAMORE   00.

Desite this loss Tullamore still top the table if only on points difference. Two early penalties for Seapoint set the tone for Tullamore who travelled without severall regulars. A careless error allowed Seapoint in for a converted try just before the break to leave them leading 13-00 at the break. The only score of the second was a late try for Seapoint .
